The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria. ESOS allows organisations to identify areas to cut costs and increase energy efficiency.

ESOS Phases Two has now been confirmed. For qualifying organisations, our ESOS Load Assessors are on hand to support you every step of the way.

Do you employ 250 or more employees?

Criteria Two

Is your turnover more than €50 million and your total asset value on your company's balance sheet worth more than €43 million?

Criteria Three

Are you part of a corporate group that includes an organisation, which meets criteria one or two?
Yes
No
NB: Organisations subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 or Public Contracts Regulations (Scotland) 2012 are exempt from the scheme.

Your next steps to ESOS compliance:

  1. Get your data ready in order to determine your total energy consumption over the 12 month reference period
  2. Appoint a ‘Lead Assessor’ to conduct/supervise audits and approve ESOS assessments.
  3. Select the most appropriate ‘Route to Compliance’ e.g. energy audits, ISO 50001 standard, DECs or GDAs.
  4. Company Director/Senior Manager to sign off ‘Opportunities’.
  5. Report your compliance with ESOS to the Environment Agency who are the scheme administrators.
